Medical Mission Trip, The Children of Jamaica

Since October of 2005, The Issa Trust Foundation has conducted annual pediatric medical missions to Negril and Ocho Rios Jamaica, and treated thousands of children.

The goal is not only to give free medical care to children, but to also mentor with local health care providers, so that they can continue to practice in their home countries where their skills are most urgently needed.

Education of the children is the key to a successful future. We know firsthand the workforce of tomorrow must be equipped with the right tools for success today. That is why marketable skills gained through effective education is a key objective for The Issa Trust Foundation.

The following images were taken during a recent mission trip this past fall of 2012. My wife, Julie and I volunteered to do photo and video coverage of the medical team’s clinics and their work with the children. As we started our first day taking photos, it became apparent to Julie that they needed her help. As part of the procedure for the clinic, my wife and another volunteer helped weigh and measure the children.

Children getting lab work done. Getting blood samples, blood pressure and pulse taken before seeing the doctors. Some of the children didn’t mind it, some didn’t like it at all.

This little one was able to take a nap amongst all the noise and chaos.

This little girl came in with flu like symptoms and was dehydrated. The I.V. helped tremendously.

This child came out of the clinic waiting room I believe to get away from the crowd and crouched down next to me. I could see tear drops hitting the concrete in front of him.
